Petroleum facts about the United States:

  • For the first time since 1949, the USA exports more oil than it imports.
  • For the products imported, half goes to the West Coast. Because it has no connection to the Gulf Coast pipeline.

There could be a new cause of rising gas prices in the next few weeks.

Saudi Aramco, a petroleum storage site in Jeddah, got hit by a Houthi attack. America receives 7% of its imports from Saudi Arabia.

Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea, said:

"The group [Yemen’s Houthis rebels] attacked Aramco’s facilities with missiles and the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries with drones. The attacks targeted “Aramco facilities in Jeddah and vital facilities in the capital of the Saudi enemy, Riyadh. The facilities of oil giant Aramco were also attacked in Jizan, Najran, Ras Tanura, and Rabigh with a large number of drones."

The Saudi energy ministry said:

"The kingdom strongly condemns the 'sabotage attacks'. And it would not bear responsibility for any global oil supply disruptions resulting from such attacks."
