A new program launched recently, and Rochester, New York residents can apply.
The initiative first started in 2022. It gave five participants monthly payments. Now, the cooperative has expanded the guaranteed income fund. They will select six applicants for the benefit.
The program runners said, "These programs build safety nets to ensure artists do not fall below a defined income floor over time," details from the program read. They enable folks to plan for the future, and foster a music industry that is often incorporated with a high degree of financial risk and uncertainty."
The fund pays $200 to beneficiaries for a year.
People who are eligible can apply online.
The program hosted by The Local Sound Collaborative closes June 3 at 11:59 pm. Interviews begin September 3. Selection and notification of participation occur on November 1. The benefit is $200. Local Sound has mandated three of the six available slots will be for people of color. All musical acts have been invited to apply, for example, sound engineers and live musicians.
