The Disney vs. Ron DeSantis feud continues. It now includes the animated sci-fi movie, "Strange World" released in 2022.

The film features an explorer group. The team travels to find a rare plant that is their society's energy source. Ethan Claude, the main character, is gay. This storyline shows him having a crush on the male character, Diazo. It is Disney's first movie with an openly gay character.

Critics were against the movie's plot. Fox News called it another woke disaster by Disney. The agency claimed this content focus caused the streaming service to lose money. But the storyline also escalated the issues between Disney and DeSantis.

A Florida teacher showed "Strange World" in her classroom. The state is investigating the incident. Most comments said they did not like teachers using class time to show films. But they were against an investigation that could cost millions.

Reports allege a Hernando County School Board member reported Jenna Barbee. Jenna is a Winding Waters K-8 teacher of the fifth grade. She claimed the movie tied into her Earth science lesson. She said the content was age appropriate. The Florida Department of Education has an investigation pending to see if this is true.

The battle between Disney and DeSantis began in 2022 after the company updated its Human Rights Policy in opposition to a new state bill.
