Walmart will close another underperforming location. The newest store identified for shuttering is in Washington. Many shoppers prefer to buy their goods online. The change reduces the physical doors worth keeping open.
Upcoming Walmart Closure
Lauren Willis is Walmart's global communications director and she said the following about the Washington closure:
"The decision to close this store was made after a careful review of its overall performance. We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions. After we decide to move forward, our focus is on our associates and their transition, which is the case here. The store's 198 employees were offered relocation opportunities instead of termination."
The Everett, Washington, location will close on April 21. Walmart stores currently stand at 65 venues. After the lockdown, six shops will remain in Snohomish County.
Willis said dishonest behavior drove the store to closure faster. She hopes the store employees continue to work with the brand via other locations in the county.
"We employ thousands of associates in Snohomish county at six other locations. We have invested in our associates and we want to keep them in the Walmart family."
