Massachusetts Restaurant Closes After 16 Years Of Serving The Community

A Massachusetts restaurant confirms it is shuttering after 16 years. The diner served Mexican food to the community. They apologize for the short notice. The owners encouraged consumers to visit before the final date of April 1st.

This closure is not the first. The owner said he goofed the launch. People had an interest in the food served. But he did a poor execution of the restaurant concept leading to the first and now second closure.

He explained the first closure, "I'm the first to admit that I goofed. But I know that the right concept, executed well, would succeed there. It's a great location. We just weren't doing the numbers in Springfield to keep it viable."
His commented on the second closure, "We are deeply sorry to announce that Mama Iguana's will be closing its doors on April 1st. We are so sorry for the late notice but we will be making room for a new owner to take over the space!"
"We want to say thank you for all of your support and the fun we have had this past year. We hope to see all your faces as much as possible before we close the doors, so everyone please come in and say hi and enjoy the last of Mama Iguana's delicious food, fun & yummy cocktails, and friendly service. We are gonna miss you all!!"

Claudio Guerra is the owner of Mama Iguana's. The first site in Springfield closed in 2013. The new location in Northampton will lock down on April 1, 2023.

Restaurant fans expressed heartbreak in response to the announcement. One user wrote: "This one hurts" calling it the "end of an era" and "the worst news."

Will you miss this restaurant?
