The retention bonus will go to physicians and other healthcare workers. It is a partnership between The California Medical Association and Governor Gavin Newsom. They put aside $1.3 billion of the state's budget for the payment. The deadline to apply is December 21, 2022. The one-time bonus is for "employees of hospitals, clinics affiliated with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and physicians who provide patient care in those facilities," California Medical Association stated.

Who is eligible?
California healthcare workers who worked at a facility from July 30 to October 28, 2022. The person should have at least worked part-time for the institution during the outlined period. An individual is still eligible even if they no longer work at the place. Hospital and skilled nursing facility staff can register here for the bonus. The one-time payment should go out by January 2023.
