A Walk Through Kansas History: Fort Riley's Buffalo Soldiers

In history we are taught many things, however some of the chapters are briskly covered and then we move past them with limited understanding. But Junction City, Kansas looks to expand on that knowledge with their Kansas Buffalo Soldier Memorial. Buffalo Soldiers were recognized for their many accomplishments within both wartime and peace. But all to often, this chapter of history is just a footnote. In Kansas, however they honor those who have served and paved the way for the more modern soldiers of today's military force. Those willing to put their lives on the line in service of country against harsh criticism in many instances and emerge with valor and honor.
