Colorado's FREE Park: The Story Behind How This Privately Owned Property Went Public

In the midst of Colorado Springs lay a space that was one of the original attractions of the area. Garden of the Gods, seems to be a little out of place in appearance versus the backdrop of Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains, however this unique wonder has been attracting guests since its discovery. Balanced Rock being a major draw early and privately owned section of the park it was not until much later that this space transitioned from private to public and with that free for all to enjoy. But there is more to the jutting red rocks of Garden of the Gods than merely the sheer appearance and beauty, they have a history here that is unlike any other location in Colorado.
