Oklahoma's Iconic Mountain Top Drive

Many who visit Oklahoma are unaware of its mountainous beauty. With peaks popping out of the Oklahoma plains in various sections there are a number of scenic drives you can take in the state. One of the most popular in the central region is Mount Scott. Mount Scott is located within the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Preserve area. This area is the home of many natural wonders, hiking trails, a campground and has become known for its crags which welcome those interested in climbing. Mount Scott is the towering height within the preserve that overlooks the entire area and can be accessed by hiking or driving to the top. The 6 mile trip winds around the mountains edge revealing views that will leave you breathless before finally concluding in the mountain top parking area. From this area you can step out to a series of overlooks, scramble down and take in the views.
