Missouri History Told Through Chillicothe Mural District

If you have never been to Chillicothe, Missouri you are in for a treat! The community is infamous for the most unexpected reason. If you have heard of or purchased a single loaf of sliced bread, you can thank Chillicothe, Missouri! It was here in 1928 that a man by the name of Otto Frederick Rohwedder invited the first bread slicing machine and changed the way we consume bread even to this day!! From this point onward, Chillicothe has chosen to honor its history and that of Missouri through their unique downtown mural district. A map can be found online which will lead you to over 20 murals spaces in the small community well worth the trip!!
