(OAKLAND, California.) Forever Oakland, an "open admissions" animal shelter, organized the first of multiple neighborhood cleanups and animal housing events on Saturday.

The shelter, which is located at 1101 29th Ave. in Oakland, organized a volunteer group to help clean up trash and assist unhoused animals around Grove Shafter Park at 36th Street and MLK Jr. Way on Saturday.

The shelter will host an educational event for organizers interested in helping with volunteering on Wednesday, March 30.

Additionally, the group will sponsor a neighborhood clean-up on the first Saturday of every month. The next one will be on April 4.
