The people that live in Highlands can be happy with a new Costco store being built in the near future.
The company released a statement where they show their new project in Highlands, California.
A document dated July 25 was sent to those who live within 300 feet of the anticipated construction site, where construction may begin soon.
According to the document, the store should be located on the North side of Greenspot Rd midblock between State Route 210 & Boulder Ave.
"A Costco wholesale warehouse and fuel facility will be constructed on approximately 19.74 acres. The 30-foot tall warehouse building will be single story, steel framed, and contain concrete masonry units. The fuel facility will contain 40,000 gallon USTs, a fuel additive UST, a 3x5 stack (5 fueling islands), and a pre-manufactured metal canopy. The surrounding areas will consist of mainly surface parking and some landscape area. An Alcohol Beverage Control license will be considered concurrently."
Kim Stater, Highland's assistant community development director, said on Monday, July 31, that construction on the Costco store is expected to begin in a couple of months.
However, officials want to hear back from the public before setting a firm date.
Stater said that the Highland City Council has given preliminary approval to the project and that the feedback from the public has been generally in favor of a Costco store.
She added that the city will be holding a public meeting in the coming weeks to give residents a chance to learn more about the project and to share their thoughts.
