What does this factually mean for the United States?
It’s not so complicated actually, a lot of Red states in the United States already limit abortion rights for women but with “Roe v. Wade” being overruled, they can ban it entirely.
Could this be the start of ending liberal democracy in America?
Where Are All The Freedom Warriors Now?
Past two years, we have been limited in our freedoms due to the pandemic.
Whether you’re against it or not, that has happened and all those people screaming for their freedom and “bodily integrity” are not here now, are they?
They’re at the other side of the line.
Morally, I might agree with them in terms of I wouldn’t want my child to be aborted in any scenario. But, it shouldn’t be banned, and everybody should have the right to do so.
That being said, I think it’s wise to inform everybody about the effects of an abortion and what it does to you and your body. That’s just a recommendation.
Banning Abortion Makes It Unsafe
Banning the nationwide right to have an abortion as a woman doesn’t prevent those people from actually having them.
Of course not.
It just makes them unsafe, they’ll find illegal places to do it. We that with drugs and other illegal things. Governments just don’t seem to get it.
Illegal abortions can cause many victims with unsafe equipment and unqualified doctors to do it — or even young women trying it on their own.
It’s just a bad idea.
What Do Our Freedoms Mean?
Apparently, it’s really easy to violate our constitutional rights and human rights. We get stripped of them, more and more.
Politicians do it for fun, it almost seems.
That doesn’t mean that a no-rule society would work. It doesn’t. But our freedoms are way too precious to violate like this.
In a liberal democracy like the United States, every person should have the right to do anything that’s allowed within reasonable limits.
Abortion is something that should be behind that wall of freedoms that we should have — even though I don’t like nor support doing it. But simply because I wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean I want others’ rights taken away.
That’s not how freedom works guys.
Will This Leaked Draft Make It Into Law?
Bad news, because I think it will.
The current representation of the Supreme Court is 6 Republicans against 3 Democrats which makes it likely that this draft will make it. Most of the Republicans in the SCOTUS are very conservative and disapprove of abortion.
But before this will be voted on, we’re months further.
On the other hand, the US Senate has decided to vote on the preservation of the right to have an abortion nationwide. Looking at the seats in the US Senate, it’s unlikely that this bill will reach 60 votes to pass.
Most Republican Senators will likely vote against and most Democrat Senators will for this proposal of the Democratic Party.
