Runaway Girl Nilexia B. Alexander Found Dead At Fatal Shooting

Police said shots were fired in the 100 block of Floribraska Avenue North at 3:15 a.m. Friday, according to reports. Several gunshots were reported by neighbors, as well as the sound of a vehicle departing the location.

The 14-year-old runaway from Temple Terrace who was shot to death early Friday morning has been identified as the victim of the tragic shooting.

Detectives with the Tampa Police Department think Nilexia B. Alexander was the person found deceased after dispatchers received a call just before 4 a.m. Friday reporting that a corpse had been discovered in the 100 block of West Floribraska Avenue and that multiple rounds had been fired at the scene.

"Our deepest condolences go to her family, loved ones, and friends," TPD officials said in a statement. "As investigators continue their work to confirm her identity, they are also working to uncover the circumstances that led to her death."
"Nobody deserves to die at the hands of somebody it’s never a good thing, we'd like to get some justice for this victim," said assistant Tampa Police Spokesperson Sandra Bentil. 

According to a press release released by the Tampa Police Department, detectives are continuing their efforts to determine her identification and to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

"We were really surprised we knew it was something serious, we've never seen that many cops cars and police tape," said neighbor Laura Pereira.
