Recall that President Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in 2020 prior to the general elections promised to construct a new harbour in Cape Coast.

The residents of Cape Coast has since been waiting on the government for the construction of the facility.

Their hopes were however dashed after President Akufo-Addo in a recent interview disclosed that the party never made such a promise.

"The committee was never to build a harbour; it was to build a landing site" Akufo-Addo disclosed during an interview on Cape-Coast based radio station, Eagle FM.

The President during a recent tour in the central region was questioned about the comment he made concerning the construction of the harbour in Cape Coast.

However, Akufo-Addo in an interview on Accra-based Peace FM on Thursday,21st October 2021 apologized to the people of Cape Coast and said his earlier comments about the Cape Coast harbour was a mistake.

He added that his government is already working tirelessly on a harbour at Elmina and having one at Cape Coast as well.

Akufo-Addo hilariously added that presidents are humans and do make mistakes at times and should be pardoned for his earlier comment.

"Let me confess, I made a mistake on the Cape Coast matter. Even with the mistake, we have to have a rethink. We cannot have a harbour at Takoradi, Elmina and have another one at Cape Coast. But I have apologized to the people of Cape Coast. Presidents are humans and they can make mistakes" Akufo-Addo disclosed.
