Cleveland, OH. - The Holidays are quickly approaching. Some people will spread the gift of love by buying and receiving gifts; others will spread the gift of love by helping someone smile. "It's all about placing a smile on the face of seniors. Those who live in senior homes. It's a beautiful thing to do. The way they respond to us has been so uplifting. I am so happy I could be part of this great program for seniors," said model Alyce Moore.
Brown on Cleveland recently introduced Cleveland Top Models (aka the Distinct Five) to NewsBreak. The featured models joined this Holiday season as the Distinct Five to put on fashion shows for several nursing homes in Cuyahoga County. "It's nice to spread joy. I am happy to bring joy to all," laughed Stacey Piece of Dedicated Seniors. Pierce is a community outreach worker. According to their website, Dedicated Senior Medical Center is a family-owned primary and specialty care practice committed to delivering superior healthcare to Medicare-eligible seniors.
The Saber Healthcare Group manages all the nursing homes we visited, including Crawford Manor, University Manor, and The Willow of Euclid, OH. "It is exciting to see our seniors laugh, smile and dance. This three-day Fashion Show excursion is memorable. The seniors are having a blast and will talk about this for the rest of their lives. It's always best to see someone smile because you never know what tomorrow will bring," says Connie Ware-Taylor.
The Distinct Five gave an outstanding performance at each nursing home. There were four scenes: My pretty, 70's, 80's, 90's, Happy Holiday, and Being Me. "The residents and staff danced and shouted. The atmosphere was enriching. This service is what the holidays are about - being able to share gifts and talents with those who are not to go out and enjoy daily activities. We must learn to honor and help those who may not be able to help themselves," says Brown on Cleveland. "We had a ball the last couple of days. This event was extraordinary. It's the little things that matter," added Debbie Wilkes.
"These two days have been beautiful. Wooing the residents was great. They had a great time. I am happy to participate," said Creddessa Groce of Cutie Productions.
Marnita Robinson, the Runway Diva, showed out when she hit the runway as Foxy Brown. Let's talk about the Big Afro and Bell-bottom pants!
Councilman Tim Tatum of Maple Heights District also participated. Councilman Tatum was the only male model. "You know, we have to give back. I love the senior community and will always be mindful of events involving them and for them. I had a good time, but I am happy to see they enjoyed themselves," said Councilman Tatum.
The Distinct Five is a group of professional models. They have been seen on billboards and Cleveland News Stations and have participated in local and national events. Brown on Cleveland is a contributor for Newsbreak, a talk show host, and a professional DJ. They have joined in spreading the holiday cheer to the local senior communities.
