Former President Donald Trump will surrender this evening, August 24, 2023, to Fulton County Georgia with regard to his Fourth Criminal Indictment. Donald Trump's newly-hired lawyer, Steven Sadow is traveling with him to the jail.
Trump replaced his top Georgia lawyer Drew Findling with Sadow ahead of his surrender today. The former President’s motorcade headed from his Bedminster NJ home today to accompany Trump to Newark Airport.
This unprecedented event comes on the heels of the first Republican debate last night. Trump chose not to attend. Instead, he attempted to upstage the event with a pre-recorded interview with Tucker Carlson interview. His response to his attendance included the statement, “I’m saying, ‘do I sit there for an hour, two hours, whatever it's going to be, and get harassed by people that shouldn’t even be running for president at a network that isn’t particularly friendly to me?’” Trump's goal was the following, “We’ll get bigger ratings using this forum that you’re using than probably the debate.” This statement was made during the interview.
Trump will be photographed, fingerprinted, height/ weight taken then released on bond. It is the fourth time this year that the former President has faced criminal charges.
Trump acquired a bond from Foster Bail Bonds LLC. Trump will put down 10% of the required $200,000 bond for his release from jail. Fulton County Georgia is the first place where Donald Trump is required to provide a cash bail. His three other felony indictments did not have this requirement. The 10% option toward the bond was an available option to Donald Trump as per his attorney agreement with the Fulton County district attorney’s office.
