Opens Fire When Workers Try to Stop Him from Leaving - Cops Say

MANHATTAN - A shoplifter opened fire inside a Manhattan 7-Eleven when a store employee tried to stop him taking items, cops said.

At around 5 am on June 4, a man walked into the 7-Eleven on Church Street. Cops say the man is seen on store surveillance video removing items off the shelves and then stuffing them into his bag.

According to the video, the man appears to stuff small bags of chips into his bag. Investigators would not say if the suspect stole larger and more expensive merchandise.

As the man tried to leave the store without paying, workers tried to stop him from leaving. Cops said the shoplifter then pulled out a handgun and fired a shot through the store window.

The suspect fled was last seen running into the PATH train station at the World Trade Center.

The suspect is a male with a medium complexion and a beard. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hoodie and black Du-rag, dark pants and grey shoes. He wore a blue back pack with a white Nike “swoosh” logo on the front of the bag.
