MANHATTAN - A straphanger was repeatedly stabbed at the Herald Square subway station during a robbery. Police released the dramatic video which captured the attack.

At around 10 pm on November 22, a 34-year-old man was riding the southbound F train approaching the Herald Square station at 34th Street. An unknown man approached him and asked for a cigarette. As the straphanger handed over a cigarette, the other man tried to remove cash from him.

The two men struggled within the subway car at which point the cigarette grubber pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the man in the torso.

When the train stopped at Herald Square and the doors opened, the fight continued onto the subway platform. The attacker stabbed the man in the left shoulder. He then yanked the backpack off his victim. Cops say he made off with the backpack and $200 cash. The stabber fled the subway to the street above.

The victim was rushed by EMS to Bellevue Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The attacker is described as male with a dark complexion who is 6 foot 5 and weighs about 240 pounds. He has a medium build and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with the word “Sox” in white lettering on the front. He was also seen wearing a black jacket with a black hood, black pants and black boots.
