(Denver, Colo.) From a cheesemaking seminar to tasting tables dishing out samples from some of Colorado’s best restaurants and book chats with authors, The Big Stir Festival has become one of the city’s most unique culinary events.

The 21-and-up festival is from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 29 at the Tivoli Center Turnhalle Room on the Auraria Campus. General admission tickets are $65, and student tickets are $55. The Colorado Chapter of philanthropic organization Les Dames d’Escoffier International sponsors it.

Honoring women who impact Colorado’s food, beverage, and hospitality industries by championing philanthropy, diversity, sustainability and education, proceeds from the festival helps raise scholarship money for future leaders.

Attendees can sample from more than 30 tasting tables with wine, spirits and food being served. Some of the Colorado restaurateurs and concepts that will have tables include Bibamba Chocolate single-origin dark chocolate, Four Seasons; L’Escoffier Cooking School; Farrow, a Niwot restaurant that sources 90 percent of its ingredients from farms within 10 miles of the restaurant; and the Culinary Creative Group (Ash’Kara, A5 Steakhouse, Bar Dough, Mister Oso and more).

Festival-goers can also geek out at seminars, including “Cheesemaking 101” with Kate Johnson, the founder and lead instructor of The Art of Cheese and “Crushin’ It: A Seminar Celebrating Women Winemakers'' presented by sommeliers Carlin Karr and Clara Klein. Also on tap is a seminar on seed to glass spirit making.

Tattered Cover will sponsor a Book Nook, with chats and signings. Authors include Tanya Holland, founder of the famed Brown Sugar Kitchen in California and author of “The Brown Sugar Kitchen Cookbook” and “New Soul Cooking”; Holly Arnold Kinney, proprietress of The Fort, executive director of Tesoro Cultural Center and author of “The Fort Restaurant Cookbook: New Foods of the Old West from the Landmark Colorado Restaurant”; and Elizabeth Yarnell, TEDx and popular keynote speaker, and award-winning author of “Glorious One-Pot Meals.”

Prior to the event, organizers will honor the 2023 Les Dames d’Escoffier Colorado Leadership Award winners.
