7 Unique Stays Near New Orleans Perfect for a Relaxing Weekend

Brittany

Unique stays are all the rage on Airbnb these days. Especially if you’re looking for a vacation closer to home, why would you want to stay somewhere run-of-the-mill or plain? Most people booking a staycation find themselves yearning for a unique stay near or even in their hometown with views or amenities they simply can’t get anywhere else.

Did you know that you can search for these unique stays on Airbnb? If you don’t want to do the legwork, don’t worry. I’ve done it for you. However, for those who want to search for their own unusual, out-of-the-box, and luxury stays on Airbnb, you can simply filter your stays by selecting such homes as “cabin” “treehouse” “island” and even “tiny home” or “tent”. That’s right, you can stay in a tent on Airbnb. Most of these tents aren’t what you think either - I’m not talking a shabby a-frame tent where you’re sleeping on the floor. Think more like an exotic safari tent or a full-on yurt with a kingsized bed. So take a look at these unique, unusual, and enchanting Airbnb stays. Then, book one of them for a relaxing vacation this weekend. You deserve to unwind and relax, and COVID hasn’t done anyone any favors in the vacation department. So why not enjoy a vacay closer to home?

This Treehouse in Bogalusa

This multilevel treehouse is going to delight the heck out of you. With two bedrooms, one bath, and five beds this house can fit up to seven guests comfortably. The space is a bit cramped, with multiple bunk beds per room, but would be perfect for a girls’ getaway or a larger family. The real charm of this place is the multilevel deck, which includes an area complete with multiple porch swings. There is even a screened, outdoor hot tub great for relaxing with your friends. There are a kitchen and outdoor grill, so you won’t go hungry during your stay.

This Remote Tent in Mandeville

If you want some adventure and isolation this weekend, this tent is literally only accessible by kayak or canoe. Located within Fontainebleau State Park, it is perfect for a couple looking to get off-grid for a weekend. This is a furnished, but rustic campsite that comes equipped with a pre-standing sturdy canvas tent on a wooden platform with a deck. The tent itself is furnished with a queen-sized memory foam mattress, tables, and a tent heater. An outdoor picnic table, a fire pit, a grill, a solar shower, and a portable camp bathroom are provided as well. Bring your own food, relax, unwind, and enjoy nature for the weekend on the shores of Lake Ponchartrain!

This Sleek Boat in Madisonville

Take this sleek houseboat out and about on Lake Ponchatrain for the day. This two-bedroom boat features 1.5 baths and is suitable for up to four people. It has multiple comfortable seating areas and a kitchen perfectly suited for hosting a small get-together. This houseboat has a wet-bar to entertain your gathering. The master bedroom even comes complete with its own swim deck! It may be a bit cold to swim right now, but you can still enjoy a night on the water, relaxing with a cocktail and your friends for a great weekend getaway.

This Historic “Earthhouse” in the City

This is a stunning 200-year-old cottage that comes complete with a balcony. Perfect for groups, it comfortably sleeps six people in its 3 bedrooms. There are four bathrooms to care for your party’s needs. This spacious, gorgeously decorated home includes exposed brick throughout. The living room is lofty and looks like a fairytale come true. The kitchen is perfect for even the most discerning gourmand. Relax outside in the courtyard with your friends in the evening, complete with cocktails in hand.

This Rustic Barn Stay in Picayune, Mississippi

This rustic two-bedroom, one-bath barn will sleep up to seven guests comfortably in its four beds. The two-story barn apartment overlooks a quaint pecan orchard and farm. Perfect for a farm-themed getaway. The barn includes a kitchenette great for small, easy meals. The living area has a futon that can easily be made into a bed as well. The bay window overlooks the farm for gorgeous views with your morning coffee. This is a true working farm complete with cows and horses!

This NOLA Tiny House

This gorgeous tiny one-bedroom, one-bath bungalow is a great artists retreat or couples getaway. It is beautifully decorated with exposed wood detailing and a spacious and fully equipped kitchenette. There’s even a tiny wine cellar in the floor! There are a workspace and a full bathroom indoors. The loft area has a gorgeous bed setup that you won’t want to leave, complete with a full-sized bed. Perhaps the most stunning aspect of this home is the full, lush garden. Take a stroll through the greenery and relax with your sweetheart in this photogenic Japanese-style garden.

So which of these unique, unusual - and sometimes luxurious - stays will you be booking for your weekend getaway? Will it be the cozy and rustic barn or the party-ready houseboat? Did the remote yet glamorous tent stay strike your fancy, or are you more of a tiny house in the city type of person? Some of these stays would be perfect for a romantic weekend alone with your significant other - let’s say for an anniversary or a special occasion (or even “just because”). Some of these stays would be well suited for a bachelor or bachelorette party - I’m thinking the houseboat or “earthhouse” for those! Some of these stays are perfect for those wanting to get away and enjoy a bit of nature for un-plugged family time.

No matter which stay you choose, you’re sure to get a unique vacation that will inspire you to relax, have fun, and enjoy the area for the weekend.
