Most people end up booking a staycation because they find themselves looking for a truly unique stay near or in their hometowns. However, these people all typically want a view, amenity, or experience that they can’t get at home. Makes sense. If you’re looking for a vacation, why would you want something plain?

Luckily unique stays are all the rage on Airbnb and other platforms these days. I don’t have to tell you that here in Salt Lake City, we like the outdoors. Sometimes though, you don’t want all of the uh, rustic charms that come with camping, especially in the middle of a powder-filled Utah winter.

Enter glamping! Glamping combines glam and camping into an experience that gets you closer to the great outdoors without sacrificing those must-have amenities like a bed or heat. Unique glamp stays can range from genuinely rustic (without indoor plumbing or running water) to truly luxurious.

You can easily search for these unique stays on Airbnb. Don’t worry if you don’t want to do the legwork, though, because I’ve done it for you. I’ve also browsed other sites to find you the best glamping opportunities close to good ole SLC.

With that said, for those who want to search for your own unusual, out-of-the-box, and luxury stays, filter your Airbnb searches by selecting such homes as “treehouse,” “cabin,” “tiny home,” or “tent.”

That’s right; you can stay in a tent on Airbnb. Most “tent” accommodations tend to be nearer to the Big Five. Most of these tents aren’t what you think either - I’m not talking a shabby a-frame tent where you’re sleeping on the floor. Feel more like an exotic safari tent or a full-on yurt with a kingsized bed. These tents aren’t included here today because of the drive time. However, check out my profile for a write-up on weeklong glamping trips within a day’s drive of Salt Lake city, worth taking this spring.

So, Salt Lake - let’s go glamping this weekend! Who’s with me?

This Luxurious Treehouse Near Coalville

If you’ve ever wanted to stay in an adult-sized treehouse, now is your chance! This glamping option combines the rustic nature of treehouse living with true luxury. This will be a truly unforgettable experience - the Douglas Firs that sit in and around this treehouse is a living thing, allowed to expand and grow due to the house's construction.

This treehouse features a gorgeous living room with stunning Uinta mountain views. There is one bedroom with a skylight. The place is cozy and well-furnished with handpicked details sure to delight. The kitchenette is great for storing light meals. There is a full bathroom, lots of stairs, and an outdoor space that is a true stunner!

This Rustic Treehouse Near Sandy

Yeah, another treehouse. They’re a lot of fun, and this one even has a frickin’ slide! You’re going to need four-wheel drive to get to this location - but what person in Salt Lake City doesn’t have a four-wheel?

This is going to be an incredibly romantic vacation. The space is very tiny and perfect for a couple. The beautifully decorated studio has a large bed and a small kitchenette with a microwave. The treehouse is heated! There is a modern outhouse (think a bathroom but without a flushing toilet).

The true beauty of this place is the winter-wonderland feeling and the amenities thoughtfully provided by the host. There are s’more’s kits for roasting in the outdoor firepit. The host will - for an extra fee- even set up an outdoor movie theater experience and create custom charcuterie boards for your stay!

This Barn Condominium in Herriman

It’s a Barndonium! That’s right, a barn and a condominium in one. This place is unique. This barn is gorgeously situated in the Herriman countryside with beautiful views. It is on a working farm, so be aware of that! The condo itself will sleep up to six, but it is best suited for a family or a couple with one bed and one bathroom.

There are a full bath and a kitchen area appropriate for preparing smaller meals. 850 square feet of open space feel large and homey. You may be visited by the active farm animals, including horses and farm cats!

This Cozy Little Cottage in Spring City

This cozy little cottage contains one bedroom and is perfect for a romantic getaway for two. The beautifully decorated cabin includes a bed and sitting area, with a firepit for s’mores.

This cottage sits on a ranch with other Airbnb's. There is a common area that contains the bathroom, kitchen, and a large room for relaxing. The common area includes a pingpong table, sitting area, etc. Gorgeously situated, the host may even include cross-country skis for you to enjoy!

This Itty Bitty Cabin in Near Ogden

This romantic and idyllically located cabin will surely spice up your weekend. This is an actual log cabin with wood details throughout the property. The views from the cabin are truly epic! The cabin will fit a couple perfectly. You probably won’t want to leave, honestly.

After a long day exploring the woods, hiking, or skiing, find yourself at this quaint property. The property has a hot tub, and the entire cabin is heated. Guests have access to a kitchen and a full bathroom. There is wifi on the property - not that you’re going to want or need it! You’ll also have access to a gorgeous outdoor space and a washer and dryer should you need it. Best of all? Breakfast is provided for you here!

If you want to go camping sometime soon, but you’re not into the freezing temperatures and snowy conditions - consider glamping. These options include places with heat, a bed, and usually other amenities that get you closer to the outdoors without sacrificing modern convenience.

Plus, all of these spots are fairly local! That means your glamping vacation is a staycation. You won’t have to drive far to experience these amazing vacays. So you can enjoy your camping trip during the weekend and still be back to work on Monday. Win-win!

Let me know which of these glamping staycation options were your favorites!
