New Jersey State Troopers have released a heart-wrenching video this week. Body cam footage has been shared from the rescue of a 4-year-old boy and his dog in the woods of Buena Vista Township, New Jersey. The video is heartbreaking, but with a happy ending.
According to investigators, the boy and dog wandered away from their family home on Tuesday and were missing for over an hour. A search party was organized, and the boy was found in the woods less than two miles away. The search party found the boy after hearing a distant cry in the woods.
In the video, you see (from the perspective of a body camera) people frantically searching in the woods. Suddenly, you see the search party recognize the sound of a child crying. They all begin running in the direction of the child and his black labrador dog. When the boy and his dog are within the video frame, you can hear the boy saying he lost his shoes, and you can see the dog jumping excitedly onto the rescuers.
The video was shared on the Facebook page of the New Jersey State Troopers.
The NJ State Trooperβs post reads, βLast night, troopers from Buena Vista Station responded to the report of a missing child in Buena Vista Twp., Atlantic County.Β
A 4-year-old boy and his black Labrador had wandered away from his house and were missing for more than an hour. While searching for the child, Trooper Ian Emmi and the childβs mother heard him off in the distance and ran to his location nearly a half mile from his house.
We are thankful to report that due to the quick response of the troopers and his mother, the terrified child was safely located and in good health.β
While the story has a happy ending, let this be a reminder β it wonβt happen if you donβt let it happen.
