Joe Tacopina, attorney to former President Donald Trump, has confirmed that theΒ former President has been indicated. An arrest warrant has not yet been issued. A Manhattan grand juryΒ votedΒ today to bring charges against the former President, which would be the first time in American history.

What does it mean to be indicted?
To be indicted is a formal way of accusing a person or party of a crime. An indictment is a part of the criminal prosecution process and an official announcement that a grand jury has enough evidence, or probable cause, to believe someone is guilty of a crime.Β
Youβre innocent until proven guilty, so an indictment does not mean an immediate jail sentence. A person who is indicted would have to face a judge or a jury to be determined guilty of the crime they're committed of.
Back in 2016, adult entertainment actress Stormy Daniels came forward saying she was paid $130K in 2006 as βhush moneyβ for βinteractionsβ with Former President Trump, which isnβt illegal. What made this illegal was the funds being provided for by Trumpβs then-attorney, Michael Cohen, and Trump notating the repayment as βlegal fees.β The misappropriation of funds is seen as falsifying business records and is a misdemeanour criminal offence, as well as breaking campaign finance laws.
An indictment indicates that the charges are being brought against Trump by a grand jury instead of a prosecutor, so he has yet to be officially βcharged.β
When an official warrant for Donald Trumpβs arrest will be issued has not yet been disclosed, but that is typically the next phase of the formal criminal prosecution process.
Trump announced his impending arrest on his social media platform two weeks ago. He said, βTHE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!β
