Eunice Lucero-Lee and her husband Jason Lee discovered a rat in their soup when they ordered takeaway from their favorite Korean food restaurant, Gammeeok, earlier last week. The couple has ordered from the Gammeeok in K-Town, New York many times before but never experienced anything this gross.

AΒ video, photos, and a detailed personal descriptionΒ of the couple’s account can be found on Eunice’s Instagram. While curious minds will look, know that the content is a little unsettling. You can see, quite clearly, a rat floating paws-up in the Gukbap soup.

The couple was slurping down their Gukbap, a traditional Korean soup made with vegetables and beef – no other animals. Eunice was about halfway done when Jason reported finding a β€œlump” in his soup. It wasn't long before they realized the lump was a rat.

β€œMy husband pushed back the table and went to throw up because he just found a rat in our food. It was pretty awful. The worst part is I was already halfway through mine and he was almost two-thirds of the way through his when he was like, β€˜what is this lump?’ And what he initially thought was a vegetable, was apparently the rat’s tail.”

The couple becameΒ violently illΒ after eating the soup containing the rat. They both went to urgent care where they were prescribed antibiotics to prevent more serious foodborne illnesses.

β€œWe have built our restaurant on authentic Korean cuisine. Koreans do not consume cats, dogs, rodents, none of that. None,” a representative for Gammeeok said. β€œWe proved it to them in a lab, and they still went forward with this social media tyranny. We have taken legal action against them for slandering our name after proving they were wrong.”

As of now, the parties are suing each other over the incident.
