A series of earthquakes have hit Texas, California, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Puerto Rico, Hawai’i, and Alaska. The United States took a small hit today compared to the rest of the world – all within a single day.

Fourteen earthquakes were detected today in the United States and its territories. Sixteen earthquakes have been recorded today in the Pacific, Asia, Morocco, and South America.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a total of thirty earthquakes struck today, 20 May 2022.

Within the United States, earthquakes with the following magnitudes have been recorded:

2.5 Junction, Utah

2.5 Borrego Springs, California

2.5 Johannesberg, California

2.5 Lowell Point, Alaska

2.5 Pinnacles, California

2.6 Qualeys Camp, Nevada

2.6 Tallaboa, Puerto Rico

2.6 Malaga, New Mexico

2.7 Port Alsworth, Alaska

2.7 Pāhala, Hawai’i

2.8 Petrolia, California

3.1 Sierra Banca, Texas

3.3 Ferndale, California

3.7 Maria Antonia, Puerto Rico

Outside of the United States, powerful earthquakes were felt in the following countries:

4.0 Al Hoceïma, Morocco

4.1 Iquique, Chile

4.3 Masachapa, Nicaragua

4.3 Myanmar

4.4 El Rosario, El Salvador

4.4 Jacó, Costa Rica

4.4 Alo, Wallis and Futuna

4.5 Farkhār, Afghanistan

4.6 Sarangai, Philippines

4.6 Isangel, Vanuatu

4.6 Copiapó, Chile

4.6 North of Svalbard

5.0 Kermadec Islands, New Zeland

5.5 Al Hoceïma, Morocco

5.8 Coquimbo, Chile

Since this is being reported within twenty-four hours of the earthquakes, tsunami warnings have yet to be confirmed.

Along fault lines, some seismic activity is expected. Regardless, seismologists are observing the recent activity very closely.

Some researchers believe this type of volatility is caused by solar and lunar patterns.
