Toms River has to be the luckiest town in New Jersey. Not because they are close to the beach, not because they already have Chipotle on Hooper Avenue, it’s because they’re getting two Chipotle restaurants!
The best part of the new Chipotle is it being a drive-through! Clearly, in the year 2022, the convenience of a drive-through restaurant makes nothing but sense…
For whatever reason, the Chipotle franchise hand-selected Tom’s River Mall and applied to the township’s zoning board. On Wednesday night, Chipotle was approved for construction on a 2,325 square foot lot at the intersection of Route 37 and Washington Street. They’re calling it, 'Chipotlane.'
Since the lot [formerly a gas station] had been leveled in 2006, it remanded vacant for the better part of two decades – until now.
Dunkin Donuts-Baskin Robin’s had applied to take the location in 2003 but were denied.
Chipotle’s approval last week was conditional upon the franchise funding traffic direction and overall infrastructure along Washington Road in Tom’s River.
The corner post of the intersection seemed to be the perfect location [in Chipotle’s opinion] to test out a drive-through.
One of the many beauties of this idea lies in the fact that you don't even need to get out of the car to get your food. Since it's a drive-through, you can order on the app and arrange for your meal(s) to be brought directly to your car. What a time to be alive!
With a P.F. Changs now open in the Ocean County Mall, the township is serving all the options – in terms of what to eat.
