The Department of Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization and Confia Homes, LLC, are pleased to announce the long-awaited development of 19 homes in the Cedar Crest area. This $3.6 million+ development, located on 19 vacant City-owned lots, will include 19 single-family homes. The homes will be a mixture of three and four bedrooms with a two-car garage, energy-efficient features, and customizable options for homebuyers.

“This development is the quintessential story of the southern sector’s rebirth. Years of hard work, not only in Cedar Crest but throughout the City, made today possible,” said Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization Director David Noguera. “We’ve had many people at the City working diligently to identify and assemble vacant lots in various neighborhoods with the objective of returning that land to productive use. With this development, we are excited about offering the opportunity for more people to call Dallas home.”

“The Cedar Crest development is the culmination of hard work and dedication from the Confia Homes team,” said Ricardo Alonso, CEO of Confia Homes.  “We’re excited to build on our strong track record of success and execute the shared vision for the regeneration of vacant sites in the City.”

“Our goal is to build great, affordable homes, spur further economic development, and create a neighborhood, benefiting the local community for generations to come,” added Confia Homes President, Kenneth Roberts.

The City of Dallas has been assembling vacant land through the Land Bank and the Land Transfer Program since 2004. In May 2019, The City released a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA), which included over 500 vacant lots in West Dallas and Southern Dallas. The Dallas City Council approved a proposal selecting Confia Homes as the preferred developer for the Cedar Crest lots in December 2019.

The Cedar Crest infill development is a key component of the ongoing revitalization efforts in the Southern Sector. The first phase is expected to be completed in June 2021.
