10 Great Easter Weekend Activities to do in Chicago

Easter is right around the corner and if you do not have any plans for the holiday, do not worry. There are a huge variety of things to do around Chicago during this weekend.

While there might not be any city wide easter egg searches or scavenger hunts, there are still many fun activities for everyone in Chicago. Here is a list of ten fun things you can try out with friends or family.

1. Art on theMart

The Merchandise Mart is one of the largest and widest building in Chicago. This makes for the building to be a great projector screen at night. During most nights this weekend the Merchandise Mart is back to showing their Art on theMart which is a video exhibition that gets projected onto the side of the Merchandise Mart. This weekend's program will be a cooperative work that the Adler Planetarium is helping out with.

2. Quantum Mirror

There is a new exhibition by one of the great Chicago artists, Adrian Stein. He has created a new installation called "Quantum Mirror" that was just installed into the Artspace 8 gallery which you can find around the 900 North Michigan Shops.

3. Spring Flower Show in Lincoln Park Conservatory

The Spring Flower Show is always a fun visit at the Lincoln Park Conservatory which just opened back up to the public. The Spring Flower Show has many varieties of flowers that are all starting to bloom beautifully and range from all colors of the rainbow.

4. Lyric Opera Streaming

The Civic Opera House is currently not open to the public but they are actually still working and recording all of their most well known performances. All of these recorded performances are available on many different streaming platforms which can be streamed on demand. There are new performances being released all the time so be sure to check frequently to see great entertainment.

5. The Friends Experience

If anyone is a big fan of the Friends television show, they are sure to have an absolute blast at the Friends Experience in Chicago. This exhibition is a temporary pop up that was created for the purpose of celebrating the twenty fifth anniversar of Friends. This will definitely take you back down memory lane and is a great memorial for the show.

6. Christina Quarles

Christina Quarles is an artist based out of Los Angeles and is famous for painting the human body with a spin on it. She has an amazing artistic eye that is able to show off an amazing rendition of art that goes beyond the normal rules of gravity and anatomy that eveyone abides by. The Museum of Contemporary Art currently is showing her biggest pieces of work to date and is a fun way to spend the weekend staring at her creations.

7. Schitt Happens Pop-Up

The well adored comedy show, Shitt's Creek has created a new pop up exhibition at Replay Lincoln Park which has lifelike recreations of the exact places from Shitt's Creek that anyone from the public can visit and take pictures in front of. The Chicago Makers Pop Up Shop is also recreating lifelike copies of many of the props and items from the show that can be purchased.

8. Wipeout

Wipeout is a gameshow that aired on television that had a premise of essentially just watching people fall or scramble their way through tough obstacle courses. In Chicago, TBS is spreading more awareness for the comeback of Wipeout so they have created a fun installation of parts from the obstacle course for anyone to come in and try out for themselves.
