A few days ago, Russia published a list of nearly 1,000 Americans permanently banned from visiting their country.
On the payroll, it includes political names such as President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Hilary Clinton and even Hollywood star Morgan Freeman.
Specifically, Freeman ranks 840th out of 963 Americans, disliked in Russia. However, many netizens have asked the big question: what did Morgan Freeman do?
And in the list, Freeman is the only film actor mentioned. For the most part, the list contained the names of FBI agents, senators, politicians and several "American citizens" who were not given the reasons why they were banned from entering the Russian country.
This measure comes after Putin's government attempts to retaliate against the sanctions implemented against Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, as several Russian billionaires have had their assets frozen and travel bans imposed on them by various nations as a way of condemning the war.
In response, the Kremlin created a list of Americans it believes "incite Russophobia" and banned them from being in the country permanently.
"We emphasize that hostile actions taken by Washington, which are a boomerang against the United States itself, will continue to receive an appropriate rebuff," Russian Foreign Ministry officials said in a statement, according to Diario Sur Noticias.
Why Russia bans Morgan Freeman
According to a Russian government list, Freeman "recorded an announcement video accusing Russia of plotting against the United States and calling for a war against our country" in September 2017.
Specifically, the video was posted to the "Russia Investigative Committee" account, where Freeman spoke out and claimed that Putin was secretly waging "cyber warfare" to attack democracies around the world."
"We have been attacked. We are at war," the actor says in the first seconds of the video.
