A house vote to expel Republican Rep. George Santos has failed.

U.S Politics: George Santos survived an attempt to expel him from the House of Representatives on November 1, 2023. The resolution to expel Santos, which was introduced by his fellow New York Republicans, failed to receive a two-thirds majority vote.

Santos has been indicted on federal charges of wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds. The charges allege that Santos engaged in multiple fraudulent schemes, including stealing money from donors and making false statements about his education and employment history.

Santos allegedly led multiple additional fraudulent criminal schemes, lying to the American public in the process. The defendant - a Congressman - allegedly stole the identities of family members and used the credit card information of political contributors to fraudulently inflate his campaign coffers (Source)

Santos has admitted to lying about his background, but he has not been convicted of a crime. His supporters argued that he should not be expelled until he has had his day in court.

His opponents argued that he has already lied to the public and to his colleagues in Congress, and that he is not fit to serve.

George Santos is a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing New York's 3rd congressional district.
