The Seattle Alki Beach and numerous parks shut and turn off lights early this weekend to prevent criminal damage in the area. The temporary plan is to deter the illegal use of fireworks and mitigate activities in the Park.
Alki Beach Park will close daily at 10.30 pm instead of 11.30 pm. The Park will open at its usual time, which is 4.30 am. The Alki Beach Park has seen a rise in safety issues, including acts of violence, excessive noise violations, and unpermitted events. There are five staff members on the beach to remind the rules of beachgoers.
The Park also works alongside the Seattle Police Department to prevent illegal activities. In addition to the beach, the Park department also plans to turn off the lights early. Lights will go down around 10 pm or 11 pm.
