The company is now one step away from having to make good on the deal
A catering company in Schuylkill County announced a big promotion last November, and now couples who took advantage of it are a step closer to seeing it pay off. It’s a contest of sorts, but everyone is a winner, according to owner Tom Trella.
The prize is a free wedding at Capriotti’s Palazzo, Capriotti’s Catering’s banquet facility in McAdoo. To win the prize, something beyond the control of Capriotti’s or its customers has to happen in February: The Philadelphia Eagles must win Superbowl LVII.
The promo was announced in a video that was posted on Capriotti’s Facebook page on November 24, 2022. In the video, Trella and members of his staff explain the rules. To enter, someone who wants to book a wedding event must choose a wedding package at Capriotti’s in McAdoo, book a date, and put down a $1000 deposit. If the Eagles end up winning the Superbowl on February 12, 2023, the wedding is free.
Trella emphasizes in the announcement video that this is not a raffle or drawing and that everyone who books with the required deposit during the promotion will get a free wedding event if the Eagles win. The promotion ended on January 6.
On January 29, the Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-7, winning the NFC East Championship and securing their place in Superbowl LVII.
Trella, a self-proclaimed Dallas Cowboys fan, seemed to begrudgingly accept the Eagles fan spirit running through his business in the promotional video.
The Capriotti’s staff said that the $1000 deposits will be used to bet on the Eagles. They joked that if the Eagles win the Superbowl, couples who entered the contest can consider their wedding events to be paid for by FanDuel.
