Multiple winners
If you look over the previous Fantasy 5 drawings, you may notice a sizable number of drawings with more than one winner. The current drawing, for example, had three winning tickets sold in the Southern California area.
I haven’t made a real study out of it, but the frequency of multiple jackpot winners for the Fantasy 5 game seems a lot higher than is the case for games like Powerball and Mega Millions.
Apparently, matching five numbers is a lot more likely than the six required for those huge jackpot games. Many have suggested that lotteries offer more realistic odds in return for more moderately sized jackpots. Perhaps games like Fantasy 5 represent a step in this direction.
Would you object to “only” winning $111,000?
Okay, that’s not much of a question. Anybody would be glad to have an extra hundred grand or more. But with the massive, multi-hundred-million-dollar jackpots regularly heard on the news, I wonder if winners of more modest amounts would feel a bit of envy.
