You’ll want to check your lottery tickets right away if you’re a Mega Millions player in South Carolina. The South Carolina Education Lottery just announced a lottery player in the state won a fabulous $3 million in the March 17 Mega Millions drawing.
The winning ticket matched the five white ball numbers, but not the gold Mega number. The Megaplier for the drawing was 3. Because the ticket holder paid an extra $1 for the Megaplier option, their prize is worth $3 million.
The top jackpot prize for this Mega Millions drawing was an estimated annuitized $254 million. Because nobody won the jackpot, the next drawing will have an estimated jackpot of $272 million.
Who won in South Carolina and what were the winning numbers?
As of this writing, nobody has claimed the $3 million prize. So, if you haven’t checked your tickets yet, you should probably do so because you just might be the millionaire ticket holder.
Even if you didn’t win the $3 million, you might still have some money waiting for you. The South Carolina lottery reports that there were over 10,000 winning tickets sold in the state for prizes anywhere from $2 up to the $3 million prize.
