If you have a sweet tooth, listen up. There's a new dessert spot headed for Palm Beach County, and it promises to offers a plethora of options guaranteed to satisfy almost any sugar craving you can name.
It's all thanks to hospitality veteran Jeff John, and his Damn Good Hospitality Group, known for concepts including Revolution Live, Stache Drinking Den, Backyard Fort Lauderdale, and Warren Delray.
This week, John announced the launch of a brand-new concept, Damn Good Sweets. The shop is slated to open Friday, August 18.
The Delray Beach establishment is helmed by award-winning pastry chef Julian Belon, who will serve a menu of creative confections that are both elegant and playful, with a surprise in every bite.
"The team at Damn Good Hospitality has been dreaming up this concept for some time now, and we are thrilled to finally open the doors to Damn Good Sweets," John tells News Break. "The amazing and talented Chef Julian was able to bring our dreams to life (and beyond), and we can’t wait to share this special experience."
Nestled just steps from Warren Delray, the 1500-square-foot bakeshop will boast a quaint outdoor patio perfect for guests to enjoy their delectable treats on site. The decor is as whimsical as the desserts themselves, mixing touches of soft pink, accented by the colorful desserts, to bring out the inner child in all who walk through the doors.
The perfect spot for those who crave the unexpected, Damn Good Sweets marries nostalgia with a touch of sophistication in every dessert.
Belon's awe-inspiring selection of desserts will delight guests from first sight to first bite, as he shakes up familiar sweets and treats with his own unique spin. His artful execution sets the tone for the experience guests will enjoy at Damn Good Sweets–one that’s multi-sensory as it envelops diners from arrival.
The "surprise" factor is the star of the show here, however, where desserts continue to reveal themselves as consumed. A melting ice cream cone is really an upside-down mousse, and a piece of fruit–seemingly ripe off the vine is, in fact, a chocolate-covered compote.
Signature items include Petit Gateaux, Drip Cakes, Floats & Ice Cream Sandwiches while specialty items will be sold on a limited basis. Guests can expect sweet surprises like the Strawberry Cone, a dessert that mimics an upside-down strawberry ice cream cone.
A scoop of strawberry mousse sits underneath an ice cream cone covered in sprinkles and pink-colored white chocolate that drips from the cone onto the mousse offering a visual syrup effect. Guests will be delighted to find strawberry compote and vanilla sponge inside the scoop of mousse delivering the perfect textural balance.
Another signature surprise is The Pear, a treat so well composed you’ll be surprised to learn it’s not the actual fruit! A green-white chocolate shell makes the shape of a pear with Pear William Mousse, Pear Compote, and Olive Oil cake perfectly constructed inside.
"I fell in love with this concept because of Damn Good Hospitality's commitment to creativity without limits, and I'm so proud of what we have been able to create together," says Belon. "I am excited to continue cultivating this special sweet spot in Delray."
Damn Good Sweets is located at Plaza Delray at 8854 West Atlantic Ave, Suite B2, Delray Beach. The shop is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information visit damngoodsweets.com.
