Just imagine: it's 1985, and you're at 1235, the nightlife hotspot off Washington Avenue that started the Miami Beach club revolution. The club has been many things since then, first changing its name to Deco's and, later, Amnesia — but 1235 was the place to "see and be seen" during the party-crazy 80's.
If you wish you could relive those days, or simply want to take a trip back in time to experience the glitz and glamour, now you can.
How? This week, when the Biltmore Hotel hosts its first-ever Miami Club Night.
On Friday, April 29 the longtime Coral Gables venue will have you traveling back to the past with its inaugural take recreating the decade's iconic club scene that will channel vibes from "Scarface" to "Miami Vice."
The new event joins the historic hotel's roster of seasonally-inspired offerings including its signature Halloween and New Year's Eve-themed dinner party.
And we couldn't be more excited: the elegant property spans over 150 acres of tropical landscape, a luxurious setting featuring Mediterranean architecture with Italian, Moorish, and Spanish influences that has been a favorite destination of world leaders and celebrities since its opening in 1926.
That means big hair, slinky clothes, plenty of silk and sequins, Rolexes, cigarette boats, and fast cars — and, of course, all the notorious bad boys made Miami the mecca for flash and fun.
As an ode to the era, the sophisticated destination will be hosting an upscale event set to take place in the hotel's ballroom. Decorated to recreate a flashy 80's night club, it will channel the sexy Miami Beach venues where music legends played — and deals were made.
The evening will present with a supper club vibe, complete with an open bar and dinner buffet. And, of course, there will be music. As many as 250 guests will get the opportunity to relive the days of all their favorite clubs while dancing the night away.
It wouldn't be an 80's party without the party-goers, or well-dressed attendees. Reservations are required, and a strict dress code in place (think Michelle Pfeiffer from "Scarface," not Cyndi Lauper or Madonna i.e. no leg warmers, please).
Miami Club Night will take place on Friday, April 29 from 8-11 p.m. Tickets to the event are priced at $175 per person ($150 for members). Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in their most elegant 80's Miami dance club attire.
