World Famous House of Mac

The Doral Yard is now home to a new location for World Famous House of Mac.

Beginning this week, visitors of The Doral Yard can find their favorite mac-n-cheese dishes like buffalo chicken made with five different kinds of cheese, pizza mac n’ cheese or jerk chicken (or shrimp) mac n’ cheese.

Even better: every Monday will be Mac Monday where you can buy one Mac dish and get a second free, available for dine-in or takeout.

The Doral Yard Co-Founder/CEO Della Heiman Goldkind and World Famous House of Mac founder and CEO Derrick Turton (a.k.a Chef Teach) go way back. They first collaborated at The Wynwood Yard, starting in 2016, when Teach joined Della’s culinary incubator and community hub.  Lines perpetually snaked around The World Famous House of Mac truck at The Wynwood Yard, the hungry guests as diverse as they were united in their obsession for the mac n’ cheese.

Some guests would make a day trip of it, coming from as far as upper Broward County for a taste of their favorite mac n’ cheese, and The Wynwood Yard team always appreciated the celebrity guests (like Bun B, Uncle Luke, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, among others) who made their way to The Yard to partake in Teach’s culinary creations.

Turton first attended culinary school at Robert Morgan Educational Center, but afterward gravitated toward the path of music and nightlife. He was still passionate about food and cooked dishes like lobster mac n’ cheese or grilled delicious BBQ at home for his industry friends and colleagues, including Pitbull, who he managed for more than a decade, along with other folks like Flo-Rida and Bun B. They encouraged him and spread the word about his addictive dishes.

The sudden passing of his father, Keith, inspired Teach to pursue a business of his own. “Legacy” is a word you’ll often hear Chef Teach use and the importance of creating a future legacy of his own weighed upon him. Armed with his grandmother’s mac-and-cheese recipe, Chef Teach created a menu of “unique spins on traditional cuisine.” Today, his new brick-and-mortar in Wynwood and North Miami Beach location are popular foodie destinations.

Fast forward to today, when fans can also find House of Mac in Doral.

"With a majority of our food truck time rooted at the Wynwood Yard, it only made sense to join forces with Della again to be able to expand our offerings to the beautiful location at The Doral Yard. We are happy to be able to now offer the option of World Famous House of Mac to a new area of Miami-Dade where we’ve had many requests to build," says Turton. "This is only the beginning. We’re grateful to Della for working with us in order to make this happen for us and for the people who have been waiting. Great to be reunited with The Yard."

Stop by The Doral Yard Sundays through Thursdays from noon to 10 p.m., or Fridays and Saturdays from noon to midnight.
