If you've ever wondered who DJ Khaled is — or what he does — wonder no more.
For over two decades, Khalid Mohammed Khaled has been known as hip hop record producer. Born in Louisiana, he came on the scene in the 90s as a DJ for radio station 99 Jamz, rising to fame after joining the Terror Squad as a DJ for the group's live performances.
These days, maybe you know Khaled as a Grammy award-winning artist and record producer, listened to the soundtrack he produced for Bad Boys For Life, saw his Rolling Stone cover, or heard him shout "We da best!" on the numerous multiplatinum tracks his company has produced in recent years.
Now, however, the producer's entrepreneurial spirit is being channeled to a new endeavor: virtual restauranteur.
This week, Reef announced its collaboration with Khaled in Another Wing, a delivery-only restaurant that specializes in bone-in and boneless chicken wings.
But not just any chicken wing restaurant. The brand is also laying claim to being the "world's biggest virtual restaurant launch in history," when the new concept goes live for delivery internationally across three continents in the United States, London, and Dubai.
“Everything I do is big,” Khaled said in a press release. “Partnering with Reef for this launch is another new exciting venture which allows me to introduce some amazing wings, to everyone, everywhere."
With over 150 locations in more than 30 cities around the world, consumers can order for delivery or experience Another Wing at popup activations in select cities (a SWARM event today offers merchandise and swag along with chicken wings at Wynwood Marketplace, for example).
Another Wing’s menu features bone-in and boneless wings in seven signature flavors including "Un Un Un Believable Buffalo", "Don't Quit Nashville Hot", "You Loyal!", "Lemon Pepper", "Honey! Honey! Hot Honey Siracha".
The signature sauce, however, is the one Khaled terms "the best." A combination of black truffle, parmesan, and Buffalo sauce, the "They Don’t Want You To Win Truffalo" it's a luxurious topping to any fried wing meal.
Khaled fans can also pair their wings with sides like Spicy Togerashi Fries, Jalapeno Cheese Fries, Truffle Parm Fries, Onion Rings, or finish a meal with chocolate chip cookies. Customers can order by the wing in 6- to 10-piece boxes, or choose from combos like the "All I Do is Wing" or "Major Bag Alert", the brand's 10- to 30-piece meals that come with two sauce choices, sides, drinks, and dessert.
The best pairing, however: a wing meal while listening to the Grammy award-winning record producer's best hits.
To date, Khaled has achieved dozens of multiplatinum and gold certifications, including the sextuple-platinum Billboard Hot 100 #1 “I’m The One” [feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, & Lil Wayne]; quadruple-platinum “Wild Thoughts” [feat. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller]; and double-platinum “No Brainer” [feat. Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, & Quavo].
The latter propelled his 2019 album, Father of Asahd [We The Best Music Group/Epic Records], to the top of the charts. Not only did it garner a platinum certification, but it also became his third consecutive Top 2 debut on the Billboard Top 200 and emerged as the “#1 Most-Streamed Record” upon release. To date, he has moved 20 million singles and 6 million albums in addition to gathering 4 billion-plus streams.
