This dessert-themed festival is coming to Miami, and it's a sweet treat overload

If you're favorite meal of the day is the final course, then this upcoming food festival will be the sweetest day of your life.

Dessert Wars — considered the largest dessert-themed festival in America — has officially announced its return to Miami for the 10th event. '

Founded in 2017 by entrepreneur and Miami native, Brad Matthews, the food-focused festival has grown in popularity to become one of the most recognized dessert-forward festivals in the country. In the past several years, Dessert Wars has since expanded to Atlanta and Tampa, with more cities including Orlando and Los Angeles, on the horizon.

This year's, the Miami event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, at the Miami Airport Convention Center. As in years past, the sugar-filled festival will showcase of over 50 local dessert vendors who will share samples of their best dessert creations while competing for the event's Judge's Champion and People's Choice awards.

"Dessert Wars was born in Miami, and we are excited to be returning for the 10th time. Dessert Wars gives dessert lovers the ability to explore and over 50 dessert vendors under one roof," said Matthews, founder of Dessert Wars. "For me, the hardest part is narrowing it down from the thousands of applications we get a year. For you, it's all about finding your new favorite indulgence."

During the event, thousands of sweet treat lovers will have the opportunity to meet local dessert vendors while sampling a wide array of desserts that range from cookies, cakes, and ice creams to waffles, milkshakes, and cupcakes. All are crafted by Miami's most delicious dessert vendors, who will vie for guest votes via a branded Dessert Wars token for the title of favorite dessert to win the People's Choice Award, while a panel of food artists, chefs, and food influencers will serve on the judges panel and vote for the winner  of the Judge's Champion.

Headlined this year's event will be the defending 2020 defending Champion, Holy Shakes. Dessert Wars Miami will also feature Sweet Melody Ice Cream, Pudding Parlor, AJ's Sinnabons, Mo's Bundt Cakes, Sequoia, and more. The full list of vendors can be found here.

To purchase tickets and ensure your spot, visit the website. Space is limited to just 2,000 attendees, and VIP tickets that provide early entry are the first to go. General admission and VIP tickets are priced $45-$65 per person. General admission includes 30 sample tickets to be exchanged for a single dessert, a welcome "go-box," and entry to the event an at 4 p.m. VIP Tickets include 50 sample tickets, a welcome "go-box," and early entry to the event at 3 p.m. The event concludes at 7 p.m.

Dessert Wars has partnered with the Mystic Force Foundation, one of the nation's leading non-profit foundations benefiting pediatric cancer research. September serves as Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and Dessert Wars will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the event to the Mystic Force Foundation. Combining fundraising efforts will bring us one step closer to curing childhood cancer.
