Top 6 Places to Visit in Michigan

Some of us have been stuck without travel or being able to leave our state since the pandemic has started.

So I thought it would be wonderful to appreciate the state that we live in and discuss the top six places that you might want to travel to as a short getaway until the pandemic is over.

Michigan has a lot of different places that will make you feel as if you are not in Michigan depending on where you are located and what scenery you are looking for.

Michigan is known for its lakes, a few beaches, waters up north, chicken wings, and downtown. You would be surprised about a few locations that I'll be listing below.

I am not listing the top five from best to worse but, Detroit seems like the one that people are the most familiar with.

Detroit does not get enough credit because, behind all of the wild things that happen there. Detroit is a great place to make beautiful memories.

Detroit is all about the motor city vibe; you have the Henry Ford Museum, Automotive Hall of Fame, Motown Museum. These museums are where a lot of history was created and saved.

Detroit also has popular neighborhoods such as Midtown and Rivertown, this is where a lot of college students are. You will gain a good artistic view and amazing food in Midtown and Rivertown.

Now, when it comes to food Detroit never disappoints you can have anything from Mexican, Thai, Indian, Caribbean, and the list goes on.

The food has always been a highlight and if your an adventurous person Detroit can provide you with a restaurant that will challenge your tastebuds in a good way.

In addition, the Eastern Market is located in Detroit city, the Eastern Market is a place where you can purchase anything that you can think of.

You can also take some time to explore the Detroit Foundation Hotel or The Inn on Ferry Street if you want to be romantic.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore has been a popular place to go to get away in Michigan.

This has been known as one of the greatest places to experience in Michigan because, of how beautiful and peaceful it is.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore is located along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. This location has lakes, streams, and beaches.

There are also seventy-thousand acres of wilderness to enjoy so, you have the option of swimming, camping, and hiking.

Lastly, at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore, you have the Maritime Museum and Glen Haven Historical Village. This is a great way to share family time or spend the summer.

Upper Peninsula

The upper peninsula is one of the most beautiful places to see in Michigan especially in the wintertime.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in the upper peninsula is the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

This location is beautiful during the winter and summer. During the wintertime, you can see frozen waterfalls, lighthouses, and go to different festivals.

You will get to experience nature at its finest and get really good photo opportunities with friends and family. One of the best places to get picture opportunities is near the cliffs.

Another benefit to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is that there is no fee to get in which is amazing for individuals focused on pricing.

Traverse City

Traverse City is another beautiful place to see up north in Michigan. Traverse City is popular due to the scenery and the different activities that you get to do.

Traverse City has always been one of the top places to ski or snowshoe during the winter, they also have a lot of activities during the summertime such as jet skis and going to the beach.

This location is also not too far from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, you easily stay here for a night and drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes.

There are so many ways or routes that you are able to view Lake Michigan, it's almost impossible to miss it.

Porcupine Mountains

Now, the Porcupine Mountains is a location that I have never been to before but, I definitely want to experience.

If you enjoy being in a quiet location this is the place for you where you can appreciate nature and relax your mind.

The Porcupine Mountains are known for their hiking trails and amazing lookouts where you can take a moment to appreciate life.

Even if you take a moment to look at the pictures you will see that it is a place to meditate and feel free.

The Porcupine Mountains are along Superior Lake which is another reason to come explore the mountains, the lookouts, and the location in general.

Two of the most beautiful places to go on the Porcupine Mountains are the Agate Falls and Bond Falls.

On the other hand, there are more locations in Michigan that will take you by surprise and keep you in suspense.

I know I only chose six locations when there are tons of hidden spots in Michigan and not only are these hidden spots up north but they are all over Michigan.

I wanted to spotlight some of my favorite locations or locations that would take people by surprise.

Just being able to learn about the different locations Michigan has to offer is wonderful. Everyone always wants to leave where they grew up.

When in a reality where you grew up may have the most beautiful locations that make you feel like you are in a different state or different location.

So take a tip from me step out of your comfort zone and explore the state that you are in with a loved one or with a friend because you never know what you may find or may experience.
