Romeo Peach Festival Is Happening This Labor Day Weekend

Becca Ballard

This Labor Day weekend the second oldest festival in Michigan, Romeo's Peach Festival, takes place.

Going on its 90th anniversary, this annual event is five fun days of events, carnival rides, craft shows, beer tasting, bed races and of course, peaches.

A collection of independently organized events held each year is what makes up this fun event, the Romeo Peach Festival. Every event here is based around its prized crop, the peach.

On Thursday the 28th annual Peach Festival Fun Run is set to take place. This is both a 5K or 10K race to participate in that starts at 5 p.m. If you aren't quite into running, you can also sample beers from around the world and, at 4 p.m., at the midway.

Then on Friday, the carnival continues from 4-11 p.m. alongside other great family fun including trolley rides, a mini tractor pull and a fireworks display at dusk.

Saturday, Kidsfest begins at 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. with tons of fun activities, like relay races, crafts and inflatables. This is free for kids 12 and under. There will also be kid-friendly performances and a petting farm to enjoy. The annual Labor Day Craft Show will also be happening Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Then, to end the night Mega 80’s concert rocks it out starting at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, don’t miss the classic car show that beings at 7:45 a.m. At 10 a.m. Although, be sure to head back to Main Street by 8 p.m. for the night parade, an event you don't want to miss.

Then on Labor Day Monday, the children’s parade begins at 10 a.m., and the regular parade starts at 1:30 p.m., both on Main Street in downtown Romeo.

The Romeo Peach Festival all started back in 1931, and is Michigan's second oldest festival to date. This is a fun event that is perfect for the whole family.

Don't forget to check out the peach pies, which Romeo is known for!
