Last weekend, a friend, Amy, asked me how much I paid for a gym membership. I chose not to answer and asked her why she asked. She seemed upset and said they had increased her monthly gym fees.
I told her my gym membership was $0.
"You're kidding me. Free membership in a capitalist society?"
"Yep, almost free."
"Stop the joke, please. I like the gym, and the new fee is too much. I'm trying to figure out what to do. Here is the truth. I work out a few days per week and sometimes only a few days a month," she explained.
"Okay, join a free gym. Your kitchen is a free gym 24/7. The public road is free 24/7. The nearby public park, school, or shopping mall is a free gymnasium. I usually use these areas for gyms — my kitchen, public school, road, or the park.
"You're too funny. How can you use a kitchen as a gym, for God's sake? Do you want to sweat in the kitchen?"
"No. However, it's my kitchen, and it doesn't matter. Be creative and use anything you have to create what you need. Or pay the cutthroat gym fees or stop complaining. The principal of the gym wants profit--to pay off the business loan, pay the employees, and one day join the Billionaires Club. Let The market decide what we give to billionaires. May God helps us, poor people."
"Okay, thank you. You win," she replied nicely.
"Come over on Sunday, and we'll talk about it. I've to go. Talk to you later."
