Mag lived and died alone in her house. She was discovered five days later.
Part I: Old age can be a blessing; however, old age can bring bad news if you live alone.
The autopsy revealed that Meg died a few days after she fell in the bathroom. Why the fall? Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises, "every second of every day, an older adult (age 65+) suffers a fall in the U.S.—making falls the leading cause of injury and injury death in this age group. One out of four older adults will fall each year in the United States, making falls a public health concern, particularly among the aging population."

Mag died in a cul-de-sac on a dirt street about two miles from the county road. Each home on the street has a long driveway about 400 feet apart.
Her house, painted yellowish green, always came alive during the holiday season, and a few years ago, there was a big event for days. The event marked Mag's 75th birthday celebration. There were a lot of cars, music, food, and people we had not seen in our community before.
Mag was a retired high school principal, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was the only surviving child of her parents and did not have any living siblings or close relatives.
Her husband died when her last child was five. She worked hard to help her children through college and trade school. They excelled in school and their career.
Mag lived alone for many years in the house she shared with her husband before he died, and she did not remarry. Mag lived her life in style and purpose. However, her five adult children, eleven grandchildren, and neighbors lived far away.
When she did not visit her children out of town, she spent time indoors, at church, or in nature. She was religious, with frequent praying and fasting. However, Mag was not a fan of TV or gossip groups in her neighborhood.
Death came calling for the older woman without a companion. How did Mag die? Who discovered her? And when did she die?
Part II continues next week.
