Learn about the touching friendship of a deer and a rabbit at a Florida sanctuary.
In a world filled with negativity and chaos, it’s always heartwarming to hear stories of unexpected friendships and unlikely bonds.
And that’s exactly what we have today — a real-life Bambi and Thumper tale that will surely brighten your day.
At the Chase Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservancy in Florida, two animals from different species have formed an adorable friendship that reminds us of the beauty of compassion and the power of friendship.
The non-profit organization is dedicated to the preservation of critically endangered primates.
Deer Bonds with a Rabbit
Among the 160 animals the sanctuary cares for, a deer and a rabbit have become the best of friends.
Afra, a 4-year-old white-tailed deer, lost her mother to a car accident and was taken in by the sanctuary two years ago. Alice, a small white rabbit, was once someone’s pet bunny but was surrendered to the sanctuary for a better life.
The pair now spend their days grazing side-by-side and their nights sleeping snuggled together. They watch out for each other, just like human friends do.
“One always knows where the other is,” says the sanctuary’s founder, Nina Vassallo.
Tortoise Bonds with a Pig
This isn’t the non-profit’s first unusual friendship.
Their African Sulcata Tortoise, Stevie, bonded with a pig they named Wonder. The pig was temporarily kept as a pet but was taken in by the sanctuary when his owner was evicted.
Stevie and Wonder were almost inseparable, always nudging each other and spending time together. Once the pig recovered, he was released back into the wild.
Takeaway
The sanctuary’s mission is to improve animals’ lives, and they have certainly done so with these adorable animal friendships.
It’s heartwarming to see different species come together and form bonds like humans.
We can learn a thing or two from these animals about the beauty of friendship and compassion.
