A Texas mother's bravery and compassion for animals have made her a viral sensation on social media.
Nicole Graham recently made headlines after successfully removing a four-foot-long rat snake from her daughter's car engine with just a ruler and a pair of gloves.
The incident, which was captured on video, shows Graham calmly coaxing the snake out of the engine while reassuring it that she wasn't trying to harm it.
Graham, who co-owns The Garden Hen with her husband, is no stranger to handling animals. Her company teaches people how to become urban chicken farmers, and she views all animals with respect and compassion.
Even though her daughter is not used to snakes, Graham's bravery impressed her daughter, who filmed the incident.
Rat snakes are common in Texas and usually prey on chicken eggs.
The snake situation started when Graham found the snake in her chicken coop. When it ran under her daughter's car engine, Graham decided to take action.
"Picking snakes up, it's not for everybody. Obviously, you always need to be cautious because it may not always be a nonvenomous snake," stated Nicole Graham, per local station KRIV.
Graham also highlighted the importance of using gloves and a stick during the rescue effort.
Takeaway
The incident serves as a reminder that we should always be cautious when dealing with wildlife, especially snakes. While Graham's actions were brave and successful, it's essential to prioritize personal safety and comfort levels when encountering snakes or any other potentially dangerous wildlife.
