A woman in Georgia has been charged with a heinous crime. In 2016, her 10-year-old adoptive son, Jesse Wilson, went missing. In 2018, the young boy’s remains were found in Buckeye, Arizona. The woman is now being charged in the death of Jesse Wilson and she is adamant that she had nothing to do with it.
During a press conference, Buckeye Police Chief Larry Hall made the public aware that 54-year-old Crystal Wilson was being charged with many different crimes in relation to Jesse’s death. Those charges include abandonment or concealment of a body. Crystal was living in Gainsville, Georgia at the time she was arrested. She had to be extradited back to Buckeye, Arizona in order to stand trial.
On July 18, 2016, Jesse Wilson vanished from his home. Wilson was known by the local police for his many different attempts to leave his home. This time, however, they were unable to find him. His mother said that he’d run away from home again by jumping out of his bedroom window in the middle of the night. She was able to rally the community as volunteers to help find the missing 10-year-old. The FBI would also join the investigation. Their efforts were, sadly, to no avail. Jesse Wilson’s remains were found on the side of the road in March of 2018. The medical examiner was unable to find a cause of death. His death was ruled “undetermined” at the time.
Jesse’s biological family heard of the case. They almost immediately suspected that Crystal was responsible for his death, but acknowledged that there was not a lot of evidence to support that suspicion. “It’s very difficult … when you don’t have a body,” Larry Hall said. “After we did locate him, that didn’t provide any further information for us.” The little evidence they did have to go off of was DNA collected from Crystal’s vehicle. According to investigators, it put her in the same area where Jesse’s remains were found.
The news of this arrest — coupled with a new investigator being assigned to the case — is giving hope that there will be a resolution in this case. As of March 2023, Crystal Wilson has pleaded not guilty to the charges related to Jesse’s death.
