Give Thanks and Enjoy Turkey Dinner All-Year-Round

Awesome Mitten

Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for a lot of people, and it’s a shame that we often only enjoy the traditional turkey-and-dressing dinner once a year. Well, you don’t have to anymore. In Kawkawlin, MI, the Turkey Roost makes Thanksgiving meals almost every day, and we think you should add it to your Michigan summer bucket list!

About The Turkey Roost In Kawkawlin

The Turkey Roost restaurant first opened in 1955 in an abandoned hamburger restaurant. Clayton Kitchen, the founder, came up with the idea of only serving turkey after visiting a family member’s New York full-menu restaurant. His belief was that he could master a limited menu in order to serve it quickly.

Although ownership of the Turkey Roost has changed hands a couple of times over the years, the owners have always continued that mission. The pink color of the restaurant was chosen to make it more memorable.

The turkey plates include dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, vegetables, cranberry sauce, and buttermilk biscuits. You can even order turkey in the form of a hot or cold sandwich. Additionally, the Turkey Roost serves beef plates and sandwiches.

Daily specials include turkey noodle soup, beef stew, turkey potpie, and sausage and biscuits with gravy. On Fridays, a variety of seafood dishes are available. For dessert, you can order old-fashioned strawberry shortcake or a slice of a la mode pie.

If you’re in Kawkawlin in the morning, you can even catch breakfast at the Turkey Roost. It serves all of the classics — pancakes, French toast with homemade or regular bread, eggs, toast, ham, bacon, sausage, and American fries.
