Now only, Pfizer is the single covid-19 vaccine available to those ages 16-18. Currently three of the Covid-19 vaccines are available to those 18 and older. Those are Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen.
Good news is that many South Carolinians are getting vaccinated against COVID-19, usually through the first out two dose delivery covid-19 vaccine system used by both Pfizer and Moderna. As of March 27, the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reports at least 1,318,990 South Carolinians have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Making the state residents have a small sigh of relief.
However, some are waiting in an attempt to receive the single-dose Johnson & Johnson or also known as the Janssen Covid-19 vaccine.

Single Dose Availability in South Carolina
With that being said, CVS’s got 5200 doses and 7400 doses went to various Walgreens in the state. The largest shipment to a hospital was in the Charleston area to Fetter Health Care Network. The Fetter Health Care Network received 4,800 per the most updated report on the DHEC website.
This information shows why the smaller pharmacies in South Carolina are still reporting a need for the vaccine. They are having to reschedule appointments after not receiving the promised scheduled doses of the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine.
South Carolina’s Senior Deputy of Public Health Nick Davidson says it is a numbers game. The agency went from getting 41,000 doses the first week to 5,000 the following weeks, thus the distribution shows the results.
Davidson says, ”As you know trying to divide that by 124 pharmacies just doesn’t work well. So it really has been more of a supply problem.”
The good news per the Public Health Department is that more doses are on the way. They expect around 30,000 Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccines in the coming week.
