NYFD Fire Truck Hits Child

Today the breaking is the sad news that a 7 seven year old boy from Staten Island boy is in the hospital. After darting out in front of a New York Fire Department fire truck he was struck at the corner of Braod St. and Gordon St. The FDNY fire truck was just returning from a call for 911. They of course were immediately abel to secure him and rush him straight to the hosptal. Those at the scene say he was bleeding and did have wounds.

The NYFD fire truck driver was seen weeping as the scene unfolded. The accident happened early in the morning abour 7:30 am.

The driver of the rig stood weeping in the street after the 7:30 a.m. accident near the corner of Broad St. and Gordon St.

The young boy's injuries are said to not be life threatening. The hospital authorities said he would recover from his wounds and injuries.

“The boy was standing there and just jumped out into the street without looking left or right,” said a local store owner who saw the crash on security video. “I can’t even describe it. It was bad. I think it had nothing to do with the fireman. He stopped and tried to move out of the way.

Many others saw it happened and were horrified.

“It wasn’t a hard impact but the fire truck hit him and knocked him back,” said Rodriguez, 60. “The boy was crying on the ground in shock, couldn’t talk.”

The firefighters were from Ladder Co. 77. The young boy was taken to the Richmond University Medical Center. This is only blocks from where the accident happened.

The fire fighters were so upset and the driver cried for a long period of time.

Eye witnesses say the driver was definitely unable to avoid the accident.
